Client Benefits
The NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management gave Marc Wild, Health and Safety Manager of Survival Systems International, the confidence to improve on current standards. The course contained a surplus of information that Marc was able to implement in “real-world” scenarios within the business.
The Challenges
Marc Wild, Group Health and Safety Manager for Survival Systems, approached EMS to help him raise environmental standards with Survival System International. Although the company had an existing environmental policy and environmental procedures, Marc felt as though several improvements could be made.
The Solution
EMS recommended the NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management for Marc. The course is designed to assist managers and supervisors who have a responsibility for managing environmental risks as part of their day to day role.
The course covers topics such as environmental management systems and impact assessments, sources and use of energy and energy efficiency, controls of pollution and planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies.
Marc used his updated knowledge to improve Survival Systems International’s environmental standards, beginning with their environmental policy. He updated and improved procedures, such as creating an emergency response plan and responsibility roster. Through running internal training sessions Marc improved companywide environmental awareness.
Finally, he also used this opportunity to re-engage all current suppliers and contractors in order to make a record of their environmental permits and licenses. After a fantastic effort, and a number of updates, Survival Systems International scored a 2.8 in their FPAL audit.
Testimonial
I found the course to be extremely interesting and applicable to my situation. I have taken many of the topics covered and applied them to improve our current environmental standards at work. I feel as though we are now more aware of the importance of environmental issues, and overall more compliant. I would definitely recommend Steph and the team at Environmental Monitoring Solutions!
