The Stephen Harrison Academy (SHA) is hosting the 2018 National Disability Snooker Championship, at Walkley Snooker Centre, Sheffield on the 22nd of September.

The SHA is a ground-breaking social enterprise based in Sheffield. The aim of the academy is to use innovative ways (initially using snooker) to attract and make personal development programmes, mentoring and employment opportunities more enjoyable for a variety of disadvantaged groups.

The SHA primarily focus their work on young people with physical and learning disabilities, mental health problems and on young offenders. The charity was set up by founder Stephen Harrison and this event is to be held in memory of his father, World Paraplegic Snooker Champion gold medalist Ray Harrison.

In support of this fantastic charity, EMS have teamed up with Kitlocker to get all those involved some SHA branded polo tops. We are delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to something which is making such a positive difference.

Stephen says,

“It’s fantastic that EMS are supporting the event with Kitlocker supplying the polo tops for the children to wear, I think without the help of local businesses it would be very difficult to raise the funds to stage the events we run, the support doesn’t stop there, Kieran and Pete at EMS have also provided snooker cues for the children to use. Thank you again for supporting our community initiative. Kieran is also going to help out giving the trophies out at the awards ceremony on the day, with the help of Deputy Lord Mayor CLLr Tony Downing.”

Kieran is looking forward to giving out the trophies on the day, saying,

“Stephen’s passion and all the effort that goes into the Stephen Harrison Academy is more than a bit humbling! The difference that the work he does along with all of the volunteers in the charity makes a massive difference to the lives of all the young people involved as well as those providing support and care. It is a real privilege for EMS to be involved. The championships are set to be a really good fun event and we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone kitted out in their new tops. A huge thanks to Kitlocker.com for their support.”

The event will take place at the Walkley Snooker Centre, (Sheffield), if you would like to register for the National event, please contact Stephen Harrison on 0114 478 8047.
