EMS shortlisted at Sheffield Business Awards

Environmental Monitoring Solutions are proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for “The Innovator” award at the Sheffield Business Awards 2021. This is for our work on CENTAUR™, an intelligent, autonomous system for urban flood risk and combined sewer overflow (CSO) spill reduction. The awards ceremony will be held at Peddler Market on Burton Street on the 9th December 2021.

CENTAUR™ is an intelligent, autonomous system for urban flood risk and CSO spill reduction.

CENTAUR™ monitors the situation in sewer networks and uses artificial intelligence to evaluate whether to hold flow back or release it to avoid or reduce escapes. The technology can fully leverage the capacity of existing infrastructure, rather than building more.

The issue of CSO spills has received much mainstream media coverage within recent months, leading to urgent amendments to the Environment Bill, which has since been granted Royal Assent to become the Environment Act 2021. Some of the issues resulting from uncontrolled CSO spills are reduced biodiversity and the spread of microbial pathogens. As such, it is imperative to find reliable and easily deployed solutions. CENTAUR™ offers a solution as a self-managing system for flood risk and CSO spill reduction, that is easily put into action.

According to the Sheffield Business Awards Website, the award “identifies and rewards the company which has launched the most innovative new product/service or who may have built or embraced new technology to drive their company forward over the last 12 months.” and the “Judges will consider all aspects of an innovation.”
